Turn Clutter Into Cash: How to Consign with Rhea Lana’s of Lafayette

August 20, 2026

If your kids have outgrown clothes, toys, shoes, baby gear and all the things that somehow seem to multiply in your house, it might be time to turn that clutter into cash!

Rhea Lana’s of Lafayette is a semi-annual children’s consignment event where local families can sell high-quality, gently used children’s clothing, toys, baby equipment, maternity items and more — while other families shop for great deals.

And here's the part that caught our attention: the average Rhea Lana’s consignor made $650 at the most recent event! That’s a pretty nice return for cleaning out those closets.

The Fall Event runs September 19–24 at Acadiana Mall, with the Private Pre-Sale taking place September 17–18.

So if you've been putting off that closet clean-out, this is your sign!

Why Consign with Rhea Lana’s?

There are lots of reasons local families love consigning with Rhea Lana’s:

  • Earn 65% of your sales, or up to 75% with referrals
  • Your items are guaranteed against loss
  • Get a pass to shop early at the Pre-Sale
  • Enter items quickly using Voice Recognition Item Entry
  • Watch your sales live during the event
  • Receive your payment by e-check on Pick Up Day

Rhea Lana’s is designed to make the process much easier than hosting a garage sale or trying to sell everything individually online.

And if you want to consign but simply don't have the time to do all the prep yourself, there’s even a VIP Consigning option where a processor gathers, preps, tags, enters and delivers your items for you.

Clutter to Cash in 5 Easy Steps

1. Register to Consign

Register through the Rhea Lana’s Lafayette website. Be sure to save your consignor number and password somewhere you can easily find them.

There is a $10 participation fee per consignor number, and each consignor number can include up to 300 items.

2. Gather Your Items

Start going through those closets, playrooms and baby gear bins!

Rhea Lana’s accepts high-quality, gently used children’s clothing, shoes, toys, books, baby equipment, maternity items and more. Items should be clean, complete, in excellent condition and appropriate for the fall/winter season.

Be sure to check the current Acceptable Items guidelines before you start prepping.

3. Prepare Your Items

The better your items look, the better they are likely to sell. Wash clothing, check for stains or damage, make sure toys have all their pieces and make sure everything is clean and ready for another family to love.

Rhea Lana’s provides detailed Merchandise Prep Guidelines to walk you through preparing clothing, shoes, toys, baby gear and more.

4. Enter Your Items

You can enter your items from a computer or mobile device, but one of the easiest options is the Voice Recognition Item Entry feature in the Rhea Lana app.

Rhea Lana’s says the voice-entry system can allow you to enter 100 items in as little as 30 minutes, which can be a huge time-saver when you're staring at a giant pile of kids' stuff!

5. Drop Off

Consignor drop-off appointments are required.

For the Fall 2026 event, drop-off is scheduled for September 13–15, with both regular in-store check-in and a Drop & Go option available.

Rhea Lana’s recommends allowing about one hour per 100 items for the drop-off process. You'll also need to bring your printed inventory sheet.

Barcode labels can be printed for you or you can choose to print them yourself at home.

And Then… Go Shopping!

One of the best parts of consigning? You get to shop, too!

Consignors receive a pass to shop during the Pre-Sale before the event opens to the public. That means you can sell the things your kids have outgrown and then turn around and find the clothes, toys, shoes and gear they need next — often for a fraction of retail prices.

The public sale is free admission and runs September 19–24.

Ready to Clean Out Those Closets?

This is your chance to clear out the stuff your kids have outgrown, make some extra money and help another local family find what they need.

It’s one of those things that really does make sense for everyone: your clutter becomes someone else’s great find, and you get paid for it.
